My pick of the new coloring books to be released in December 2020
This is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all coloring books being released. Bear in mind, that there are hundreds and hundreds of books being released every month. I cannot possibly keep up with all of them!
This list of new releases is only books that have taken my fancy, and that I think that you may like as well. Due to the high cost of postage for most readers, this list will usually not include International releases.
Please also bear in mind that different countries often have different publication dates. Something may be released in the US earlier than in the UK or vice versa.

Faith and Harmony Coloring Book
The amazing talents of Jim Shore are showcased in this new coloring book published by Design Originals. This faith focused coloring book features “over 30 designs inspired by folk art and featuring angels, animals, biblical scenes, and more” including a gallery featuring colored images of Jim’s work, inspirational quotes and single sided, perforated pages for easy removal.   The folk art designs include “Noah’s Ark, angels, birds, animals, biblical scenes, sentiments, and more. Unique quilt patterns are incorporated into every design as an homage to Jim’s late mother, a passionate quilter”.

Mythographic Color and Discover: Frozen Fantasies
Fabiana Attansio has illustration another coloring book for the Mythographic series of coloring books. In Frozen Fantasies you will find “a glittering gallery of surreal wonders, icy kingdoms, and dazzling tundras ….including hand drawn illustrations featuring “frosty illusions, crystalline castles, and snow-dusted landscapes“.  There are 40 illustrations to color and hidden objects to find throughout the pages.

Inspire Bible NLT: The Bible for Coloring & Creative Journaling (Hardcover)

Large Print Calm Color by Numbers
This color by numbers coloring book features large size numbers to make it easy to see without getting squinty eyes and wrinkles 🙂 .  There are “cute animals to stunning landscape scenes …..and over 60 color-by-numbers artworks. On the back flap you will find a color-key which you can fold out beside your page for easy reference.”  There are a number of books in this color by number series in both large and regular print.

Creative Haven Spectacular Spring Scenes Color by Number
George Toufexis has created a lovely Spring themed color by numbers coloring book for Creative Haven.  Creative Haven always create coloring books that offer great value for the colorist. Pages are perforated and printed on one side only for easy removal. You will find “forty-six deeply detailed scenes feature lush landscapes, waterfalls, birds, flowers, butterflies, wildlife, and more” including a “simple color key or create your own personal palette“.

Creative Haven The Great Gatsby Fashions Coloring Book
If you love the roaring 20’s (I had that theme for my 21st!) then you may like this coloring book! Ming Ju Sun has illustrated a number of coloring books for the Creative Haven brand.  In this book you will go back in time to the “glamorous fashion inspired by the beloved novel The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.”  There are 31 “illustrations of women in drop-waist and patterned party dresses, fur shawls and cloche hats, plus men in tail-coat tuxedos and slim suits“. Creative Haven coloring books feature single page images printed on perforated paper.

Crush and Color: Twentieth-Century Foxes: Colorful Fantasies with Old-School Heartthrobs
This is the latest coloring book illustrated by Maurizio Campidelli for the Crush and Color series of coloring books. The coloring book “features your favorite movie stars from a simpler time. Bruce Willis, Tom Cruise, Harrison Ford, Val Kilmer and more.”  There are very few coloring books that feature men so this would be a great one to practice your techniques with well known imagery.

Expressions of Hope Coloring BookÂ
Joanne Fink has illustrated 32 frameable illustrations for Design Originals.  These illustrations feature “calming designs and messages of warmth that express gratitude, love, and encouragement to offer comfort during hard times“.  The coloring book features colored images to inspire your creations as well as perforated pages for easy framing.

Quirky Collages to Color
Don Stewart left his career in medicine to pursue his creative talents.  In this interactive coloring book published by Design Originals you will find “32 stunning line art designs each filled with tons of smaller illustrations for you to find as you color. Helpful lists of what can be found accompany each design, so you’ll know what to search for.” If you are a fan of puzzles you may enjoy coloring this book.  The “designs each contain a variety of elements that act as clever and funny puns relating to the main illustration. Also included are tips on supplies, color theory, shading, and highlighting, step-by-step instructions on blending, an inspirational gallery of colored examples, and famous quotes throughout.” The line art is printed on single sided perforated pages for ease of removal.

Luna Coloring Book by Maria Trolle
Luna is the fifth coloring book by Swedish illustrator, Maria Trolle.  Luna Coloring Book was originally released in Sweden in 2020 with the same title.  This hardcover coloring book features “a moonlit walk through a garden full of gorgeous flowers, discover fabulous plant treasures in a dense forest, and tiptoe around fairy tales at every corner …. a register of plants, birds, and butterflies is found in the back of the book“.

Zendoodle Colorscapes: Calming Kitties: Cozy Cats to Color and DisplayÂ
Calming Kitties Coloring Book features the art work of Deborah Muller and Jeanette Wummel (who have separately illustrated many books in the Zendoodle Colorscapes series) and text by Jodi Best.   At the time of writing there is little information available on this coloring book.

Harry Potter SpiroglyphicsÂ
Thomas Pavitte has created a number of coloring activity books including Querkles, dot to dot and my favorite, spiroglyphics. The latest spiroglyphics creation features Harry Potter characters in spiral form. As you color the lines in the spiral the characters will reveal themselves. This coloring book features “20 puzzles features popular characters and creatures from the films”.
