Baby Animal Safari Coloring Book  Review

If you are looking for a cute book filled with simple but fun animal designs, then this coloring book might appeal to you.   Baby Animal Safari features cute wild animals that you will find in jungles, forests and on safari.

Cover & Layout

A glossy soft cover with a partially colored design decorates the cover of the book.  You can easily see from the cover that these are easy and cute designs great for fun and stress-free coloring.

Ancillary Pages

A decorated title page starts the book with details of other books in the series on the reverse.    Overleaf, there is an extended title page with copyright information on the reverse.  Any of these pages would be suitable to test out your mediums and color schemes.    Each of the pages features a cute animal in a scaled down version, so it is a great opportunity to play with color choices before diving in.

Layout

Illustrations have been printed on off-white, faintly textured perforated pages.

The perforations make it easy to remove the image from the book and frame it or color on a clipboard.

Due to the cute appeal of these images, you could well imagine the colored artwork decorating a child’s room or nursery.

Art Work

The designs in this book are suitable for young and new colorists. More experienced colorists may also enjoy these fun designs by applying techniques and effects to the pictures.

You will find a variety of baby animals that are found in the jungle and on safari including giraffes, elephants, monkeys, hippopotamus and many more.  Some pictures feature 2 of the same kind of  animal in the one illustration and others just feature one animal.

The animals are illustrated  as full-bodied, just the face or side profile giving the colorist a variety of poses to choose from.

Each animal has some fun patterns decorating it.  The patterns break up the large expanse of space that animal bodies generally take, making it easier for new colorists.  Patterns comprise spots, florals, paisleys and doodles among others.    The use of patterns makes this book suitable for colorists of all ages.   Colorists that are new to coloring can have fun playing with color on the patterns without worrying about trying to emulate realistic animal skin and fur.

Colorists that have a minor visual impairment or who may find the pattern detail overwhelming or challenging can just color wash over the area.   This will allow the original design to show through creating a fun effect, without stress.

Colorists that are skilled with blending and shading can really create beautiful pieces of art from these pictures as well.

Each image has been outlined in a thick, dull black outline making it easy to see.   The background elements are in a medium line so the animal remains the focal point.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
