Little Sweethearts Coloring Book  Review

Deborah Muller of Chubby Mermaid Art creates cute and whimsical coloring books that are suitable for a wide range of colorists.   Her books flow with a theme and Little Sweethearts is of course based on love and Valentines Day.    This is the first “love” themed coloring book that Deborah has illustrated.

Many of  Deborah’s books are self published by her  and others are illustrated for publishers like  St Martins Press and Posh.

Some of Deborah’s books are also available as a digital download as well as a physical book.    I am quite fond of digital books as I can save on shipping costs and print on the paper of my choice and multiple times.   As I tend towards experiments with coloring, the ability to print multiple copies always makes me happy.    It’s no surprise that I purchased the digital edition of Little Sweethearts.

The only negative that I have to say with the digital edition is that it is not an instant download.    It may take 12 hours for you to receive a link to download your book.  This means that you need to plan in advance if you are hoping to buy, download and print and color immediately.

Deborah has also released [easyazon_link identifier=”1983652709″ locale=”US” nw=”y” tag=”mygamingweb-20″]Cowgirls and Indians[/easyazon_link] [easyazon_image align=”center” cart=”n” height=”500″ identifier=”1983652709″ locale=”US” src=”http://coloringqueen.net/my_content/uploads/2018/02/51b428I6meL.jpg” tag=”mygamingweb-20″ width=”386″]

Cover & Layout

If you purchase the digital download of the book, you will receive only the line art in .jpg form to print.

Readers that prefer a physical book will receive a book with a glossy cover and the image shown on the video on the cover.   This cover art has also been included in the book for you to color as well.      The physical book is printed on white trade stock paper.

Art Work

Please refer to the video above for the illustrations included in the digital download.

The art work features cute little girls with a real Valentines Day theme.   There are loads of sweet and whimsical designs featuring simple hearts and flowers, cute little pets and sweet messages for those that you love.

One of the advantages of purchasing the digital edition is that you can adjust your printer settings to print out a smaller note card size version of the image.     When I first colored a picture I accidentally printed way too small …  my next attempt was on normal A4 size 🙂

Deborah’s illustrations contain enough detail to make the picture fun to color without being overwhelming.    There is generally enough white space to create a background, if you wished although they always tend to look cute without.

The clear, crisp black outlines make the illustrations easy to see for colorists with a minor visual impairment.    Younger colorists or those new to coloring will find they can enjoy coloring these images without knowing any special techniques.  More experienced colorists will enjoy adding special effects and technique to the art to make it their own.

There is a consistent theme throughout the book and even though it is focused on Valentines Day you could still enjoy coloring it year round.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
