Disney Babies Coloring Book  Review

As regular readers will know,  I’m a fan of  Disney so Disney coloring books will often find their way to my coloring cave.    When I seen the cover of this Disney Babies French Coloring Book I had to have it.   Who can resist a baby bunny Thumper on the cover?

Cover & Layout

Disney Babies colouring book is a baby sized book, making it perfect for your handbag or traveling.   Although, it is packed with images so it may add some extra weight to your bag if you are commuting with it.

On the cover there is a partially colored image of Thumper with a patterned background in line art.    This is indicative of the style of pictures that are printed in the coloring book.

The back cover has a lovely blue background and printed color butterflies and some of Thumper.   Sadly,  the publishers have slapped their blurb all over little Thumper’s face 🙁   It seems a shame that the art work  has been hidden like that when the blurb could have been positioned elsewhere on the back.

On the thick spine of the book Thumper appears top and bottom with the title in blue and the note that there are 100 illustrations in this book.

Disney Babies Coloring Book measures 17.5 cm x 17.5 cm.

Ancillary Pages

A plain text title page starts the book with copyright information on reverse.   This would be a great spot to test out your mediums.

An extended title page follows with a turtle to color with ocean vegetation in the background.     The seaweed and coral in this image is quite small and may be a challenge to color in.

The book has been divided into different chapters starting with an Introduction, Sommaire (table of Contents),  Bebes animaux (Babies),  Bebes et enfants humains ( baby human characters),  Parents et enfants (Parents and their babies) Amis et compagnons de jeux (Friends and Playmates).      Each one of these Introduction pages has a mandala type pattern in the background that you could test your colors on.

Layout

The illustrations have been printed on both sides of the sturdy, white medium quality paper.

Most of the images fill the entire page with line art running to the spine of the book.     The book does lay down reasonably well, although some images may be tricky to color depending on where they are in the coloring book.

Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

For fans of Disney, both young and old, this is a cute book.     The illustrations generally have a focal point of one Disney character on the page with a background that can sometimes be a little busy.    A nice selection of Disney characters has been included in the book including Tinkerbell, Bambi, Thumper, Minnie Mouse and the Jungle Boy.

The line art is black, crisp and very easy to see.    Some lines are a medium weight while others are a thicker weight.     This variation in line weight helps give the art work extra dimension and shape especially when colored.

Colorists that have a minor visual impairment may enjoy coloring the focal point of the page,  the character,  but may wish to do a color wash on the background as some do pack a lot of detail in the small space.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
