100 Cats Korean Coloring Book  Review

This cute coloring book from Korea features 100 pictures of cats in different outfits.   The artist has thoughtfully named each cat.   The name is stated on the facing page in English and there is some text in Korean as well.   The cover features “Kindergarten student cat”.  Although many of the cats have similar features there is still a variety of different types of cats in the coloring book.

Cover & Layout

The card cover has fold out flaps which feature artist information at the front and presumably advertisements at the back.

What you may be surprised about (if you have only seen the cover online) is how small this book is.   It is munchkin cat size 🙂 .  This little book measures in at 15.5 cm x 15.5cm  – great for the handbag or commute to work.

Ancillary Pages

There are 4 pages at the front with text in Korean on them.   Any of these pages would be great to test out your mediums.

Layout

The illustrations are printed on the right-hand side of the book.   On the left, the drawing has been named in English and there is text in Korean as well.

The paper in this Korean coloring book is ssurprisinglythick compared to most Korean coloring books I own.   It is medium/heavy card weight with a lovely texture to it and an ivory color.  The book lays down flat very easily with just a gentle nudge.

Art Work

The art work in this book features a different cat on each page.   Some cats are side profile, some face on to give a little variety to the colorist.   My only niggle with the art work in this coloring book is that I feel that there could have been a wider variety of cat breeds featured.

The line art is a dull black and a medium weight.  It has the appearance of hand drawn with some lines being less sharp than others.

Each cat is depicted in a different outfit which makes this such a fun coloring book.

The art work features a lined cat and outfit with a grayscale background on the bulk of the pages.    For colorists with a minor visual impairment, this is great as there are a lot of wide, open elements on the main focal point.    These large spaces to color contain detail and texture where required but not so much that it is difficult to see.     One of the great things about the pages is that you could choose to leave the background as is rather than attempt to color it.   The grey background may be challenging if you have a minor visual impairment.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
