Squidoodle’s Adventures in Colouring  – Adult Coloring Book Review

This colouring book hand illustrated by English artist, Steve Turner known as Squidoodle measures approximately 27.5cm x 21 cm.  It has a glossy cover which gives you a taster of the images inside.

I am a fan of Squidoodle, but not of this cover.    With his intricate and well designed artwork I believe that he could have made a cover which had far more impact than the current one.   Just my opinion 🙂

Illustrations

This is the smallest coloring book that I have in my collection.     There are only 16 illustrations in the book.     I have to say, that I was disappointed when I received the book.   Living in Australia, I rely on buying most of my books online and often end up paying a large amount for shipping or postage.    This book worked out as a very expensive purchase for me.

I love looking at Steve’s work, particularly his Steampunk inspired illustrations, which are amazing, but I really think this book could have more illustrations in it to justify the price.

There are 16 illustrations in the book which are printed on thin paper as you would expect from Create Space publishing for Amazon.  The images are beautiful, intricate and detailed.   You will find images of an owl, hot air balloons, sea horses, cogs and quirky doodles.   Some of the illustrations have a lot of heavy black already filled in them.   This may suit some colorists and not others.

If  you follow Steve on Facebook you will find that he is very generous with his artwork.  Often giving free colouring pages out.     The designs are usually beautiful and cleverly illustrated.  He is an extremely talented artist.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
