My Lovely Pet Coloring Book Review
If I see a contented cat on the cover of a Korean colouring book it is a guarantee that it is going to entice me. When I seen My Lovely Pet Colouring Book online I knew that it would be finding its way into the cart and on my shelf. My Lovely Pet features all the animals that we have as pets including cats, birds, dogs and bunnies. It also features some native animals as well as the exotic, like giraffes and panda bears.
Cover & Layout
The glossy cover of My Lovely Pet Colouring Pet features a contented cat with pink markings. It looks like he has eaten himself into a food coma as he has his little spoon in his hand still while he sleeps it off 🙂
On the back cover two love birds in line art with a dash of pink on their cheeks are in front of a colourful wallpaper background. You could color these birds if you wished but you would need to be able to penetrate the laminate of the cover.
My Lovely Pet is kitten sized and perfect for your handbag. If you seen it online you may be surprised at how kittenish and cute sized it is. It measures 16.5cm x 16.5cm (6.5 in x 6.5in) approximately.
The glossy fold out flaps feature a feather at the front to color and a kitten at the back to color if you wished.
There is no line art on the inner cover to color in.
Ancillary Pages
A completely blank page is at the start and end of the book. These pages would be great for testing out your mediums and color selections. This is followed by our contented cat as line art for you to color in as the title page. Copyright information is on the reverse.
Layout
Illustrations are printed on both sides of the off white, medium quality paper. All of the illustrations are orientated portrait style. There are no double page scenes within the book.
The image line art does run up against the spine of the book for the bulk of the images. Initially, the binding on this book was very stiff and rigid but spending a few minutes pushing it, it has now relaxed enough to color these areas easily.
My Lovely Pet Coloring Book Review Images and Illustrations
If you love to color in animals and like cute and whimsical art work then this colouring book may appeal to you. The art work is a lovely mix of cute and realistic with an assortment of animals in different outfits, headwear or captured in cute poses like sitting in a tea cup. Animals found in the wild are shown in more realistic settings like a Panda chewing some bamboo.
One of the things that I really find appealing about this book is that the image sizing is a great proportion for a small book. Often with small books there are such tightly packed detail on the page that it can be overwhelming. In my opinion, this book has got the sizing right. The animals are large enough with plenty of open to color in on the small page without feeling challenged, particularly if you have a minor visual impairment. The background elements are super cute and appealing but not so tightly packed that it is hard to color.
On the whole the line art is black, medium weight and very crisp and easy to see. There are some images that have fainter line art and finer line weights but presumably that is to give a different, artistic look to the finished page.

At the end of the book you will find some treats. There are 5 single page illustrations that are designed as postcards. You will also find 2 pages, with 4 images to the page that contain little message cards. On the reverse is “Happy Birthday” text.
