From the creator of the worldwide bestsellers Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, a beautiful new coloring book that takes you on a magical journey beneath the waves
With Lost Ocean, Johanna Basford invites color-inners of all ages to discover an enchanting underwater world hidden in the depths of the sea. Through intricate pen and ink illustrations to complete, color, and embellish, readers will meet shoals of exotic fish, curious octopuses, and delicately penned seahorses. Visit coral reefs and barnacle-studded shipwrecks, discover intricate shells and pirate treasure. Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest fans and newcomers alike will welcome this creative journey into an inky new world.
For Lost Ocean, Johanna picked a crisp ivory paper that accentuates and compliments your chosen color palette. The smooth, untextured pages allow for beautiful blending or gradient techniques with colored pencils or are perfect for pens, allowing the nib to glide evenly over the surface without feathering.

Lost Ocean Coloring Book – Johanna Basford

Lost Ocean is the third book that this talented illustrator has created for the adult coloring group.  This beautiful book is bound in a colorable dust jacket that has gold foil embellishments which is typical of her books.

Just like her other books, Secret Garden and Enchanted Forest, you will find that the book is filled with complex and intricate details.    There is a page of seashells in this book that will take you days and days to color in such is the intricacy of her design.

This book has a lovely ocean theme as you would expect from the title which is presented in the usual story book fashion.     You will also find that like her other books the inner cover is colorable and there is a beautiful fold out to color at the end of the book.      This book seems to have it all as far as value for money goes.      Unlike her previous editions, Lost Ocean, is printed on white paper.

Even though this book is printed on double sided pages (which is a pet hate of mine) I am giving this a higher rating due to the white paper and the complexity of designs as well as the bonus fold out at the end.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
