Flower Mandalas Coloring Book Review

I admit it. I love mandalas. I find them incredibly soothing and restful to color. Usually, I go through stages where I may just color only mandalas for a while. Then I’ll switch to my cute little animals that always make me smile. When I was going through a lot of job stress recently, coloring a mandala for 15 minutes before heading off to the office helped me relax and I’m sure was the reason that I didn’t tell people what I really thought 🙂

When I seen this book last year it appealed to me because it was mandalas, but also because the mandalas were themed with flowers, which I love. I haven’t colored in this book yet, because quite frankly, I think that the flowers are above my skill level at the moment and I wouldn’t be able to do justice to their prettiness. It’s a book that I’ll put to one side until I feel more confident to tackle it.

Cover & Layout

Flower Mandalas Coloring Book features a lovely glossy white cover with a partially colored design printed on it. From the cover detail you can see that the images are very detailed.

The title is in pink with raised lettering which goes so well with the colors used on the flowers of the cover.

On the back, you can see partially colored images and it’s amazing how absolutely beautiful they are when you apply blending and shading to the images.

This is a smaller book than you may think if you are viewing it online. It measures 22cm x 22.3cm (approximately 8.8 in x 8.8in)

Ancillary Pages

A plain text title page commences the coloring book. On the reverse a beautiful colored image has been featured on the whole of the page.

Copyright information follows on a half page shared with a close up partially colored image.

Unusually, for a coloring book a table of contents follows. The sections include details about the book, adult coloring, materials that you can use to color with and some basic techniques. There is also a list of mandalas as set out below:

A thank you page has been printed on the reverse of the last image in the book.

Layout

The first 15 pages have been printed on colored paper and include 2 inspirational images as well as the ancillary pages discussed above.

Coloring book images have been printed on single sided, white, medium quality paper. All of the images have been well positioned and centered in the coloring book for ease of coloring.

You may notice on my video and photos that there is slight discoloration on the paper around the edge of the book. This is not a defect in the book, but unfortunately it was stored with sunlight hitting it for some time on my shelf.

Flower Mandalas Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

The mandalas have been inked in a dull black line which has the appearance of hand drawn. It does not have the crispness that line art has when it has been digitally created or cleaned up digitally. However, I cannot say with certainty that the images are hand drawn.

The line weight is a medium and occasionally a fine line. The lines are easy to see, however the detail is quite complex in each image. Because of the abundance of detail in each image, in a small area, this may not be the best book for colorists with a visual impairment to tackle.

Cynthia Emerlye has included an impressive range of different styles of flowers in varying states of bloom. Each mandala has additional elements added to it including shapes, leaves and delicate vines.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
