Fantasifull Flora Coloring Book Video Review

I hope you enjoyed the video review of  Fantasifull Flora Coloring Book illustrated by Danish artist and illustrator, Nina Leth.

Fantasifull Flora Coloring Book Review

The beautiful floral cover of this book captivated me when I seen it online.   So delicate and pretty and packed full of flowers.

Cover  & Layout

The front card cover features a variety of flowers that have been pre-printed in tones of pink, green, mauve and blue.   It has  French flaps with a black background and white line art.   On the back cover the background is black and it features flowers in white outline.   The inside card cover is blank and there is nothing to colour in on there.

Ancillary pages

A plain text title page starts the book.  This would be a great place to test out your markers and other mediums and see how they react with the paper and your coloring style. An elaborate nameplate page follows featuring a wreath of flowers and leaves to colour.    The  copyright information for Fantasifull Flora is on the reverse of this page.  A page of text follows, which is written in Swedish, and presumably is an introduction from the artist.  At the end of the book there is a blank piece of paper that could be used to test your color palettes or mediums.

Layout

The bulk of the illustrations have been printed on both sides of  the smooth ivory paper.  At the rear of the book though there are 8 single page illustrations.  The paper is medium quality and all of the images have been orientated portrait style

Illustration

The cover of the book accurately depicts the type of art work that you will find inside the book.   The artistic drawing of the  flowers  in this book remind me a lot of the artwork of Sydney artist Adriana Picker.  It has the same detailed knowledge of flowers they give this book a real botanical feel.

There are a variety of flowers throughout this book featuring all different types of blooms.  There are large flowered petals,  elaborate leaves, smaller and tightly packed flowers. You will find flowers in patterns, bouquets and pots.

The artist tends to use the whole of the page for her designs. The illustrations have been well positioned and centered in the book for ease of colouring.  None of the illustrations abut the spine  making it easy for the colourist to colour in this book.

The line art is black and crisp on the whole.   There are a variety of line weights used.   This gives the elements of the artwork more dimension when colouring.
Colourists  with a visual impairment will be pleased to know that many of the images have large open spaces making it easy to colour

Where to buy Fantasifull  Flora Coloring Book

This book was first released in 2015 in Denmark as Fantasifuld  Flora.   The rights to publish it were then obtained by Swedish publishers.  To the best of my knowledge, an English publisher has not obtained rights to publish it.   If you wish to purchase this book you will need to do so online. I purchased the Swedish edition from Pen Store where I purchase Swedish colouring books.  I have always found them to be efficient and have excellent customer service.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.

  • Love flowers and this blok looks gorgeous. I, as I still consider myself , a beginner would not want to even color in it. I have a special place that I keep special books in…lol. Probably will never color in them, but love to take them out and look through them and admire their work.
    Thank you again Lea

    • I’m like you too Connie, I have quite a few “special” books that I am not ready for but I love to look at the pictures! Maybe one day…. Happy coloring x
