Echo Chernik Coloring Folio Video Review
I hope you enjoyed the video review of the collection of coloring posters from Echo Chernik.
Echo Chernik Coloring Folio Review
I purchased this lovely set of posters via a Kickstarter campaign earlier this year.     I fell in love with the cover image that was colored by a professional artist, Emma Garside.    The beautiful Art Nouveau styled woman with the lovely presentation caught my eye.
The artist, Echo Chernik has previously completed a collection of art works featuring Goddesses.    Each of the beautiful paintings was over 6 feet tall!  She then used those beautiful original pieces of art to create line art, at a reduced size, for colorists to color in.
You can see the original paintings that this coloring folio is based on below and at her website.
Presentation & Layout
The artist elected to have her coloring “book” created as a Folio, loose pages, or posters to color and frame.    This means that the collection was not as expensive to reproduce. The lack of binding makes it easy to color each image for the colorist and ensures that binding does not interfere with the illustration.     Rather than present the posters in a plastic bag, they created a beautiful double-sided executive-style binder for the posters where they can be easily stored, when not in use, and easily shipped.     The cover features the beautiful Goddess of Tea colored by Emma Garside.
Illustrations
The Kickstarter campaign allowed buyers to purchase different numbers of images.    The set that I purchased is as per the video above.
The illustrations have all been inked in a crisp, black line and the line weight varies depending on the detail and the definition being presented in the illustration.    The colorist may find it useful to look at the original pieces of art when coloring for inspiration.
All of the illustrations by Echo Chernik have a lovely frame surrounding it and the Echo-x logo is stamped in red.
The A4 sized illustrations have been drawn by Emma Garside who is well known for her work with Celtic knots.
A mix of premium foolscap and A4-sized archival matte paper have been used for the illustrations.   As the posters are printed on single-sided papers, and due to the quality paper, you should be able to use any medium of your choice on it.   Make sure you discreetly test in a corner first before diving in though 🙂
Many of these drawings are very detailed with a number of elements filling the page.     New colorists, have enough line art to simplify the coloring process and should be able to produce great results even without fancy techniques.    Skilled colorists, will bring these images to a whole new level with subtle shading, outlining, and blending techniques.
