Christmas to Color an Adult Colouring Book by Mary Tanana
Mary Tanana has compiled a beautiful Christmas themed adult colouring book.  The cover is card, that has been partially printed.   The title is red foil.   The back cover is card and is pure line work.   There are a lot of opportunities for coloring on the cover alone.
The white paper is quite good and has some tooth to it.   I do not believe that it would withstand markers but as always, test on part of the book first.    The illustrations are really lovely and seem to have a folk art, traditional bent to them.  You will find illustrations of houses, birds, ornaments and even a russian doll.  Many of the images have a lovely illustrated border and you could imagine these would look lovely framed.
The line work in the book is crisp and clear in black.    This makes it easy to see the outlines if you have visual difficulties.    There is also a variety of complexity of designs with many designs that have large spaces ideal for those with eyesight difficulties.    These large outlines also lend themselves to markers or crayons for those who prefer those mediums.
One disappointment, and a common one for me 🙂  is that the beautiful illustrations are printed on both sides of the paper.      As most of the images are not double page scenes it would have been my preference to have the printed on single sided pages.    Some of the full page illustrations also are printed right to the spine of the book without a margin.   This can make it difficult to color in those tight spots and it may be worth removing the book binding.    Another issue I had with the book, although minor, is that it is difficult to lay it flat. I may need to start lifting weights to apply more force to my colouring books 🙂
Overall it is a lovely book and I really like the traditional Christmas theme to it.
