Cat Color Coloring Book – Adult Coloring Book Review
The title of this book is so underwhelming that I didn’t know what to expect when I ordered this book online. The cover picture of the cat lazing in the pool with the rubber duckies was so adorable that I had to have it.
The book arrived. Lovely soft cover. Approximately 28 cm x 21.5 cm of pure purrfection 🙂
I wish this book had a snappier name to go with the beautiful illustrations inside. Inside the cover you will find 11 beautiful colored thumbnails of the drawings inside, and another 11 on the inside back cover. The artist, B Kliban is quite fond of cats and has painted hundreds over time. Inside you will find 22 of his beautiful paintings turned into illustrations for you to color in. This artist has such a quirky imagination, I spent most of my time smiling like a madwoman when looking at the pictures.
The paper quality is very good. It is a lot thicker than most coloring books but it is not artist paper or cardstock. Each illustration has been printed on a single sided page. The line work is black and dark. Now, some colorists may not like that there is a lot of black solidly filled already on the drawings. Others may like this feature. As well as solid black coverage on some pictures there is also a lot of black hatching on some drawings. The illustrations are not greyscale though although there is a lot of shading in them. Each illustration has been signed by the artist outside the border or frame of the image.
If you like cats, this is a cute cat book to collect. The quirkiness of the images will delight you. The thumbnails of the paintings will inspire you to create your own purrfect masterpiece.
