Alice in Wonderland Coloring Book  Review

Regular readers will know that I love anything Alice in Wonderland-related. It is always such a thrill to see each new Alice in Wonderland coloring book and see how she has been depicted and who else from the famous fairy tale will be featured. Naturally, I always hope to see the Cheshire cat and the White Rabbit

Cover & Layout

This Japanese coloring book features a glossy dust jacket and a rear view of Alice on the front cover with the Cheshire cat smirking at her. The way that the picture of Alice has been presented gives me the feeling that she is walking into Wonderland. The background on the cover art features mauve candy stripes with adorable cute flowers and mushrooms partially colored. This color theme wraps to the back of the book, with a slightly different design and keyhole view, and features on the fold-out flaps

Unusually, the glossy card cover of the coloring book proper features dark green printed line art rather than the usual black or white. The design wraps to the rear cover of the book and features Alice sitting on a mushroom

There is nothing to color on the inner dust jacket or book cover.

The Alice in Wonderland Colouring Book measures approximately 25cm x 25cm

Ancillary Pages

The illustrations from the front cover without the wallpaper background have been used for the title page of the book.

This is followed by a two-page table of contents with some cute decorative elements. These pages would be the better place to test out your mediums.

The last page of the book features copyright information.

Layout

Illustrations have been printed on both sides of the off-white, medium-quality paper. There are 30 pages that comprise double-page scenes where the line art does run to the spine of the book.

At the moment, the book is quite stiff so coloring those areas near the spine may be difficult until it loosens with use.

There are some illustrations that could have been positioned a little differently and they would have avoided the spine area.

Alice in Wonderland Coloring Book Images and Illustrations

This is a different portrayal of Alice than what we usually see in coloring books and starts pre-Wonderland. We get to know Alice being read to in a lovely garden before she wanders into Wonderland.

As usual, all your favorite characters are represented in this coloring book including the White Rabbit and Cheshire Cat (my faves!)

The line art is black, crisp and of medium quality, and very easy to see. However, each page generally contains a lot of elements that may be overwhelming for those with visual impairment.

There are also a number of accessory pages that contain decorative elements like gloves, fans, and gems.

There is a gorgeous double-page scene of a home interior that is just begging to be colored in within the book.

You will also find that in some pages the artist has elected to behead the character in order to make the dress the focal point of the picture. I always feel uncomfortable with pictures that lack a head …. but this is Wonderland and anything can happen.

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
