Color Me Fold Me – Christmas Edition Volume 1 Video Review

I hope you enjoyed the video review of  the Color Me, Fold Me – Christmas edition coloring and craft book.

Color Me Fold Me – Christmas Edition Volume 1

Color Me Fold Me – Christmas Edition Volume 1 by Ruby Phoenix is a fun coloring and activity book.

One of the things that I really like about is that it is very practical.

The coloring book consists of 7 different styles of decorations that you can color in, fold up and glue together.   These completed decorations can have string attached for tree decorations, be filled with sweets or trinkets, make cute table decorations or whatever you wish.

In addition to the decorations that you can make, there are also 9 pages of mandalas that you can color in after Christmas.

Colored with Staedtler fine liners

Illustrations

The designs all consist of mandalas, flourishes and swirls.    Each piece has been inked in a dull black and a fine line.    The designs themselves are quite small and the detail is quite intricate.

As most readers will know,  I wear reading glasses.  Even with my extra strength glasses on I really struggled to stay between the lines with the detail on these pieces.   Saying that,  I decided to just go with the flow and have fun and not worry (after all that’s what Christmas is about).   Consequently, there are areas where I wobbled outside the lines, but overall I had fun coloring the decorations.

I used my Staedtler brilliant colours fine liners and some cheap gel pens from the supermarket on the decorations.

As the drawings are quite small and detailed, they took far longer to color in than I thought they would (one piece took over 2 hours!)

I love the concept of the colorable decorations but my aging eyes would really appreciate a thicker line weight and simpler images.

Layout

The instructions are printed at the front of the book and are extremely clear and detailed.   A lot of effort has gone into preparing the book which can be clearly seen.

The illustrations are printed one to a page on white, trade stock quality paper which is A4 sized.

The box and single cones that I colored in, all glued nicely and retained their shape.

Petal bulb decoration colored with gel pens from the supermarket

The petal bulb felt very flimsy with the paper so I glued some cardboard on the bottom of the bulb so it would retain its shape.

Personally, this is the type of book that I would prefer to have as a digital download.    I could then print the templates on to sturdier paper or card (I may even scale the images up as well).

About the author

coloringqueen

I'm Lea and I love everything to do with coloring! If it is a coloring book, a poster or even a bookmark that you can color in, I'm all over it. Of course, a girl has to have some pencils, markers, gelly rolls, pastels and what not to make those pictures pretty and I love those as well.

Whilst my coloring style lacks skill, I am enthusiastic and focused on enjoying the moment and having fun.
