Mexican Folk Art Coloring Book For Adults

Creative Haven are well known for the coloring books for adults they create.   They have a number of illustrators of their books including, Marty Noble.     Marty Noble has illustrated both the Day of the Dead book for Creative Haven as well as this Mexican Folk Art Coloring Book for Adults.

Cover & Layout

The coloring books for adults that Creative Haven create always measure 28cm x 21cm approximately.  They come with a soft cover.  The illustrations are printed on white, perforated paper. The inner and back inner cover both contain a colored plate from the illustrations.  This is useful to inspire you when you are coloring your own drawing from the book.  The cover of this book does not appear as vibrant in real life as it does on photos.  This could be the result of different print runs.

Illustrations

This book contains 31 illustrations of authentic, Mexican folk art that has been adapted by the artist.    The line work is very crisp, clear and sharp black.    Many of the illustrations are very detailed.  Some, in my opinion, have far too much detail for a small page (but my eyesight is not what it used to be!).    There is a wide variety of images and scenes including the sugar skull on the cover.

This type of book is nice to color during the Day of the Dead festival.   It can also give those that have not been to Mexico, or wish to relive a visit, a good cultural overview of the art in the area.
