Coloring Book Cover & Layout

This lovely Chinese coloring book has a matt card cover with title in gold foiling. As the cover is not laminated, it would get dirty if regularly used or stored. If you were purchasing this book, I would consider covering it in plastic to protect the cover from wear and tear.

You may notice on the cover of my book that it has a large dent. The book arrived at my home beautifully packaged and in perfect condition. Unfortunately, *someone* put a large, heavy object on it and damaged it 🙂

You could color the cover if you wished.

Art Work

The artwork features various Chinese ladies in different costumes dancing and playing musical instruments. Each of the illustrations has a lot of flowing movement to it which would look beautiful colored.

Line art in the book is a dull black for the focal point of the image. In each image, though there is pale grey line art in the background. This light colored art work, may be very difficult for some colorists to see. It mainly comprises flowing waves and mandala type imagery. The faint line art means that when colored it would produce a painterly effect and merge into the background.

Some of the art work in the book could have been positioned so that it avoids the gutter of the book and so that smaller elements could be contained on the one page.

All of the art work is printed on both sides of the book.

On the left side of the page, you will find a smaller image consisting of the musical instrument featured on the main right page image. Text in Chinese accompanies this image. I haven’t scanned my page with my Scan and Translate app as yet. I assume though that the text contains information on the instrument.

The paper is a medium quality although it is on the lighter end. It has a very faint texture to it making it ideal for colored pencils. If you were considering using wet mediums on this paper, I would test it discreetly on part of the book that you did not fancy coloring.

Bonus

Included with my book is a fold out poster featuring art work on both sides. The paper is a very sturdy card which would look fabulous framed.

On one side of the poster there are a variety of colored dancers in a pattern around the main dancer (see part image above).

The reverse of the poster contains a printed blue background and light grey line art featuring birds, musical insruments and flowers to color (see part image below)
